National Institute of Health
This Web site provides an online Health Information Index where you can find information on a variety of diseases and health topics. The site can be very useful for the Web-savvy user. But for the average user, it takes a quite a bit of clicks/navigation to find what you are looking for. When you choose a topic (for example, pneumonia and aging), the site will direct you to the main page of the institute that is responsible for information on that particular topic (in this case, the National Institute on Aging). The user then has to locate the information they are looking for on the the individual institute's page. There is no consistent format between the institutes, so ease of finding the information you are looking for is variable. The best option is to perform a search on the individual institute page.

Social Security Administration
Social Security Online has a lot of resources that help you understand the current program and to frame discussions of the future of Social Security.

This useful web site allows you to do a search of a particular topic of only government sites (local, state and federal). The search capacity of this site is pretty good. It is also a good reference site if you want to find a particular government site and can't remember the web site address.
